After its most successful season ever, the behind-the-scenes "Grounds
Tour" will return to the Indianapolis Motor Speedway in 2005 with a
record number of dates for fans of all ages.
The 90-minute tours will offer an in-depth view of the Speedway's
evolution over the past 95 years.
Participants will receive a guided tour of the 2.5-mile oval and
unprecedented access to the Speedway's most important landmarks,
including the Gasoline Alley Suites, the four-story Media Center, the
Bombardier Pagoda's timing-and-scoring suite, the victory platform,
the Gasoline Alley garage area and the start/finish line, where fans
can stand on the famous "Yard of Bricks."
There are 34 dates scheduled for "Grounds Tours" in 2005, up from 14
in 2004.
Tours are scheduled to depart the Speedway's Hall of Fame Museum at
9:30 a.m., 11:15 a.m., 1:15 p.m. and 3 p.m., local time.
"Grounds Tour" participation doubled in 2004, with more than 2,600
participants from 48 states and 19 countries.
Tickets for the tour also include admission to the museum and are $25
for adults, $10 for youth age 6-15 and free for children age 5 and
younger. Tour tickets are available at the Hall of Fame Museum and
also can be ordered by mail.
