Beck Motorsports enters Homestead race
No driver yet, Hamilton at Kansas and Indy

Greg Beck has filed a surprise entry for the 2007 IndyCar Series season opener, boosting the total car count to 20, though he has not yet named a driver. Beck, was for a time a fairly regular entrant in the IRL until rising costs and the influx of big money teams from the former CART series displaced his small operation. The last few seasons, Beck has been working in the NASCAR Busch Series and running an Indy-only program.
"My heart's in Indy car racing," said Beck. "That's our heritage and what we want to be doing. We're excited to be back in the IndyCar Series. We're trying to build a program and run as many races this year. We have Homestead, Kansas and Indy nailed down. After Indy, we're working on things for the remainder of the year and trying to build into a bigger program for 2008.”
Former driver Davey Hamilton is expected to drive for Beck at Kansas and Indy, with driver and team working together to figure out who will drive the team's Dallara chassis at Homestead.
Hamilton has not driven in an actual race since suffering severe feet and ankle injuries at Texas Motor Speedway in 2001.
Since then Hamilton has remained very busy. He operates a short track racing team along with the SRL Late Model series. In addition, the Idaho driver has been well received as the driver analyst for the IMS Radio Network's coverage of the IndyCar Series. Hamilton has also worked in a managerial role with several IndyPro Series teams, including Cheever Racing, and he is the main driver for the IndyCar Series “2-seater” program.
He nearly made a comeback at the Indy 500 in 2006, but when Max Papis was able to bring a bigger sponsor to Cheever's IndyCar Series squad he was again left on the sidelines. Hamilton was diplomatic following that maneuver, noting it was the best business move for Cheever to make – though he was bitterly disappointed.
Due to his injuries and resulting driver insurance concerns, Hamilton has long stated he would only return to the cockpit in competition when it made financial sense and he had a chance to run well.
Until Vitor Meira came along, Hamilton, a former Supermodified driver, was widely regarded as the 'best driver without a victory'.
Hamilton has 48 starts (Meira now has 59), without a win, though he does have 13 top five finishes and $3,326,828 in earnings.
