Vision Racing driver Tomas Scheckter scored his third-straight top ten finish for the season, taking ninth at Twin Ring Motegi for the fifth running of the Indy Japan 300. The ninth place run was Scheckter's career-best at Motegi after taking the green flag from the eighth spot. The solid finish allows Scheckter to remain in the seventh spot in the driver championship point standings.

Vision Racing teammates A.J. Foyt IV and Ed Carpenter were also able to drive to the checkered flag in today's race, coming in 13th and 15th, respectively. Both are career-best finishes for Foyt and Carpenter at the 1.5-mile oval of Motegi.

Foyt started from the 14th position and drove to his second-straight finish. He remains in the 17th spot in the driver point standings. Carpenter earned his first running finish at Motegi in his fourth try here. He started the race from the 16th spot but dropped one spot in the driver point standings to 13th.

Tomas Scheckter
“We had a decent race. I would have like to have finished higher, but we gave it all we had. At the end there we tried a little different fuel strategy and it didn't quite work out, but we still ran a strong race. This is three top ten finishes in a row for the team which is a good start for us. We just need to begin building off of this and start looking to get a little higher up each race. We have another opportunity to do that next weekend at Kansas so we'll see what we can make of it.”

A.J. Foyt IV
“The good thing is we finished the race. I wish it was higher than 13th, which isn't too awful considering if was my first time here with this team, but we had too good of a car all weekend to finish that poorly. We had a strong car. I just feel like we were unlucky in a couple of situations like having to make an unscheduled pit stop to fix a bad vibration. My guys did a good job all weekend, gave me a solid car and I wish I could have finished a little better for them so we'll try to do a better job next weekend at Kansas.”

Ed Carpenter
“It was a long day. It makes for a tough day when you have a mistake early on that puts you down laps and then you end up riding around waiting for other people to crash out so you can move up. In the end, Marco (Andretti) was the only one who helped us move up a spot. It's too bad that we didn't finish better. I came over here and had high hopes for this weekend. I kind of screwed up qualifying for us and put us in the back of the field, then we had a couple of pit stop problems, then we had another problem that eventually added up to be a lot of errors. That made for a long day, so at this point I'm ready to get back home and prepare myself for Kansas.”
