Dixon fastest for Ganassi Racing
|
Scott Dixon handed Ganassi Racing a sweep of the only two practice sessions leading to the Kansas Indy 300. After Dan Wheldon led the first session, Dixon bested Sam Hornish, Jr., Tony Kanaan, and Wheldon in the second practice.
Dixon's speed of 213.876miles per hour was only slightly better than Wheldon's earlier session leading speed of 213.046mph. Track and weather conditions have been nearly perfect, with temperatures climbing to just the low 70's and bright sunshine hitting the track after several days of off and on rain.
Dario Franchitti was seventh quick despite losing the end of the session as his Andretti Green Racing crew had to take his car to the garage area to repair an electrical problem.
There were no incidents in the session which was delayed just twice for cautions. The first was for debris in turn two, while the second came out when a cut tire was found on Sarah Fisher's car - necessitating at track inspection.
Danica Patrick backed up her fourth quick time in the morning session by running fifth in the second practice.
