Dreyer and Reinbold looking forward
Putting cheating issue in the past

Dreyer and Reinbold Racing has so far received the only publicly exposed fine of the 2007 season, but team owner Dennis Reinbold is far more concerned with moving forward. “It was a dumb mistake that happened two weeks ago and for us it's ancient history. We've moved past that.”

Notably, there have been other teams caught in violation of various rules, particularly with aerodynamic parts, but League officials have prevented that information from becoming public - their standard procedure.

Putting the $25,000 fine he recently received in the past, Reinbold instead focused Carb Day comments on how his race team has improved and some things they are planning for the future.

Commercially, the team has brought on several associate sponsors like Bitburger beer, and signed a primary for Sarah Fisher's car in the form of AAMCO transmissions. This has allowed them to bring in several new mechanics and engineers, led by John Dick - formerly of Fernandez Racing.

Running a third car for the first time in their history, DRR added Roger Yasukawa for the Indy 500, who was up to speed in just three laps.

Yasukawa credited the engineering information he got from Fisher and Rice, as well as the team's newly found ability to show both consistency and repeatability in their set-ups.

Fisher's team-mate, 2004 Indy 500 winner, Buddy Rice gives DRR two full time teams, and Rice thinks they are moving in the right direction.

“To do the steps they did in the off-season, with the added people, and engineers, and the resources they have committed - they should be commended for that,” said Rice who is qualified 16th for the Indy 500.

One of the more interesting partnerships that DRR has employed in 2007 is bringing back sponsorship from A1 Team USA owner Rick Weidinger.

“We are here using this platform because of the synergies it offers to us,” said Weidinger. “We are exploring combining some of our commercial operations so we can offer sponsors a year round package.”

One of Weidinger's drivers this year was Phil Giebler who has now qualified for his first Indy 500. He also ran 18 year old Jonathan Summerton, who Weidinger described as the next 'F1 driver from the United States.'

Plans are being made to have Rice run the A1GP races during the IRL's off-season, though those are also not fully confirmed.
