Tony Kanaan led the final practice session for the 2007 Indianapolis 500 as the field of thirty three drivers took to the track for the first, and last, time together before Sunday's race. Getting a big aerodynamic tow from team-mate Dario Franchitti, the second starting Kanaan turned a lap of 225.467miles per hour.

In running the fastest lap of the session, Kanaan picked up $2,500 from the ethanol promotion board. “This will buy a lot of diapers for my soon to be born Son,” joked the man that $2,500 probably means very little. Still fastest on the day from second on the grid is a big plus for Kanaan.

Franchitti was second fastest with Michael Andretti joining his Andretti-Green team-mates in a big draft and picking up third on the speed chart.

The surprise of the session was Jaques Lazier who was fifth fastest at 223.468mph, though he too got some help - this time from Penske racer and Pole sitter Helio Castroneves. Lazier's speed was interesting in that he is using one of just three Panoz chassis in the field.

A pair of rookie's got into a little trouble with race control during the practice session. Milka Duno was repeatedly warned for running too slow, and not properly yielding to faster cars. Her best lap was just 211.658mph, nearly six miles behind the 32nd quickest driver, Roberto Moreno and 14mph behind Kanaan's session leading speed.

If she doesn't find considerable speed, her race day could be pretty short as Brian Barnhart, serving in his role as chief steward of the race, has been quick to park off pace drivers in recent years.

Phil Giebler, the other rookie, got in trouble for racing too hard, and not giving enough room. He particularly raised the ire of race officials when he chopped Danica Patrick heading in to turn one.
