IPS - Lloyd wins Freedom 100
Indianapolis - IndyPro Series - Race

Alex Lloyd notched his fourth IndyPro Series win of the 2007 season by leading all forty laps and cruising to victory in the Freedom 100 at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway. Now undefeated for the season, Lloyd took the lead on the initial start from pole sitter Ken Losch and was never again challenged.
“Best feeling I've ever had,” said Lloyd. “I've won some races before and I've won some important awards. I've won here at the Formula 1 race, but I've never experienced anything like that. There are not many chances you get to win at Indianapolis on the oval. To be the first driver to win on the oval and the road course is something very special.”
The race got off to a rough start when amidst a wildly spread pack of cars, Wade Cunningham made contact with Mike Potekhen as the field raced three wide into the first turn. Cunningham's right rear tire tore the left front wing from Potekhen who then bumped Hideki Mutoh - giving him a flat left front tire.
Mutoh and Potekhen were able to repair their cars, while Cunningham sent to the rear for jumping the initial start as it was determined he was passing cars before he reached the start/finish line.
When the race restarted on lap five, Shane Jantzi and Ryan Justice made contact in turn one, with Justice masterfully avoiding a crash, but bringing out the second yellow of the race.
As pole sitter Ken Losch was falling out of the race with a broken gearbox, the race finally got going on lap ten with Lloyd leading Chris Festa and Jaime Camara. After jumping out to a several second lead, Lloyd was able to cruise until the caution waved for Joey Scarallo who was stopped against the third turn wall.
The race would restart on lap 36 only to have the caution come out again on lap 37 for light moisture on the surface. Following Lloyd across the line were Festa, Camara, Andrew Prendeville and Hideki Mutoh.
