Tony Kanaan led the second practice session at Richmond International Raceway with Sam Hornish, Jr, Marco Andretti, Dan Wheldon and Scott Dixon rounding out the top five. Kanaan's lap of 15.603 seconds came as most teams worked simulated qualifying runs in amongst long run race condition practices.

For Andretti, placing third on the speed chart backs up the first practice's second quick time and begins to show some consistency for the previously struggling driver. Prior to last weekend's Iowa Speedway event, Andretti was seventeenth in points this year - second to last amongst the eighteen full time drivers.

He comes in to Richmond fourteenth in the standings, but still with just two finishes in the 2007 season. A crash took him out of Indy, but he parked ill handling cars at Homestead and Kansas.

A second straight solid finish this weekend could signal a major turn around for the 20 year old's sophomore season.

The only driver behind Andretti in the points two weeks ago, Kosuke Matsuura, continues to struggle, barely outpacing Milka Duno who is again off the pace.

Duno had the only incident of the split field hour long session. She pushed into the marbles as she exited turn four; something her team had warned her about repeatedly before it happened.
