Foyt finishes tenth at finale
Chicago - Vision Racing - Race

Driver A.J. Foyt IV led Vision Racing to the finish in the 2007 IndyCar Series season finale at Chicagoland Speedway on Sunday, taking 10th. Fellow teammates Ed Carpenter and Tomas Scheckter finished 16th and 20th, respectively.
Driving the No.22 Vision Racing Dallara/Honda/Firestone, Foyt was running at the finish. After starting 18th, Foyt drove as high as sixth today and earned his fifth top-10 result of the season. Foyt will finish 14th in the IndyCar Series championship point standings.
Starting from the 14th spot, Carpenter drove as high as 11th, but a pit speed violation after the first pit stop sent him to the back of the field and in 18th. Moving up to 15th, Carpenter lost power to the No.20 Hitachi Power Tools machine on lap 70. His crew rallied to get his Honda engine restarted and back on track on lap 95. He managed to finish in the 16th spot and will end up 15th in the championship point standings for the season.
Scheckter started ninth and ran as high as seventh until losing a rear wheel during the first caution laps brought out by Marco Andretti. Scheckter was able to resume the race in the No.2 Vision Racing Dallara/Honda/Firestone, but handling issues sidelined him around lap 73. In spite of his difficult day, Scheckter did finish 10th in the championship point standings for the season.
A.J. Foyt IV:
"I just have to thank my guys. We didn't have a very good day on Saturday, but they gave me a good car today and we just put together a solid run to finish 10th. I would have liked to have finished higher, but I'm happy we got a top-10 to finish the season."
Ed Carpenter:
"Unfortunately, we didn't have a good day today. First off we didn't have a good qualifying run and that put us behind from the start. We had started to work our way up a little, but a pit speed violation put us at the back and our luck just went south from there. We just lost power in the car mid-way through the race and it took a while for the guys to find the problem. Once we got back out there it was just a matter of going until we were unable to pick up anymore spots. Obviously it is going to make for a long off-season finishing up like this."
Tomas Scheckter:
"For some reason we just lost a tire out there early on, but thankfully it was under yellow. Once we went back out we were quick, but the car just never felt right. The handling was off and that made it difficult to drive. It's a tough way to end the season, that's for sure."
