Adversaries become teammates
Dixon and Franchitti joins forces

Just a few months following a season-long Championship battle between IndyCar drivers Scott Dixon and Dario Franchitti, which played itself out through the final turn of the final lap of the final race of the season, the two competitors now find themselves in an unusual situation for the start of the New Year – as teammates.

Adversaries for years on track, Franchitti and Dixon's battle this season was one of the best in recent memory, beginning with an Indy 500 victory for Franchitti and second place finish for Dixon, then culminating with a similar result in the season finale and the IndyCar Series title.

They now find themselves not only Chip Ganassi Racing teammates, after Franchitti signed with the team's NASCAR Sprint Cup program this past off-season, but wearing similar Target firesuits and at the wheel of CGRFS' two Daytona Prototypes, preparing for the team's fifth year at the Rolex 24 At Daytona in the Grand- Am Sports Car Series.

Dixon will be in the No.02 Target/TELMEX Riley Daytona Prototype at the prestigious twice-around-the-clock competition with fellow Target drivers Dan Wheldon and newcomer Alex Lloyd, and Mexican star Salvador Duran. Franchitti joins CGRFS NASCAR teammate Juan Pablo Montoya, Scott Pruett and Memo Rojas in the No.01 TELMEX/Target Riley.

While the CGRFS team is looking to defend their back-to back wins and hoping to become the first team in history to win three consecutive overall titles in the Rolex 24 At Daytona, Franchitti also has the possibility of repeating a rare accomplishment first set by one of his Target teammates.

With a win at the Rolex 24 in 2006, Wheldon became the first driver to consecutively win three major North American racing titles. With Franchitti's 2007 Indianapolis 500 victory and IndyCar Series Championship, he could become the second to accomplish such a feat.
