- Made IndyCar Series debut at Chicagoland with PDM Racing. Started 16th and finished 13th, completing all 200 laps.
- Made history that weekend when he became the first driver to compete in a Menards Infiniti Pro Series event and an IndyCar Series event on the same weekend. Won the pole for the Pro Series race and finished second to Mark Taylor by .0170 of a second, the closest race in series history.
- Started two other IndyCar Series events, finishing 13th at California and 21st at Texas season finale.
2002
- Finished third in Menards Infiniti Pro Series standings with six top-five finishes in seven races.
- Earned best result of second at Kentucky, finishing .0652 of a second behind A.J. Foyt IV.
- Completed the most laps (454 of a possible 455) and was the only competitor running at the finish of every event.
2001
- Competed in the USAC Sprint Car Series, earning first series victory in season finale at Salem, Ind.
- Raced in all 13 events in the USAC Silver Crown Series, earning six top-10 finishes. Best result was sixth at Indianapolis Raceway Park in May. Finished ninth overall.
- Tested Pennzoil Panther IndyCar Series car at Atlanta Motor Speedway, reaching a top speed of 208.5 mph.
2000
- Made USAC Silver Crown Series debut, earning Rookie of the Race honors at Phoenix International Raceway and Nazareth Speedway.
- Earned five top-10 finishes with best result of sixth at DuQuoin, Ill., in USAC Silver Crown competition.
- Claimed the pole for the Hulman-Hoosier Hundred at Indiana State Fairgrounds and led for 80 laps before retiring.
- Finished 12th overall and second rookie standings in USAC Silver Crown Series.
- Competed in USAC National Midget Car Series, earning four top-five finishes and a best result of second place in the prestigious Belleville Nationals in Belleville, Kan. Finished ninth overall.
1999
- Competed in USAC National Midget Car Series as a rookie.
- Earned first career feature victory at Louisville (Ky.) Motor Speedway in only his fourth start.

- Made midget debut at 16th Street Speedway (Ind.) in USAC Regional Series.

- Competed in three-quarter midgets (TQ’s), finishing second overall in rookie standings despite running only 14 of 22 events.
