- Earned first IndyCar Series victory at New Hampshire 1, driving for A.J. oyt Enterprises.
- Missed Indianapolis 500 after suffering head injury during second practice crash at Indy.
- Returned to IndyCar Series at Pikes Peak. Suffered head injury in an accident on first lap, forcing him to miss the remainder of season.
1996
- Shared inaugural IndyCar Series championship with Buzz Calkins after finishing 11th at Disney World, second at Phoenix and 10th at Indianapolis.
- Opened 1996-97 IndyCar Series season with victory at New Hampshire in A.J. Foyt entry.
- Won Rolex 24 Hours of Daytona with Doyle Racing Oldsmobile Riley & Scott World Sports Car team, co-driving with Wayne Taylor and Jim Pace.
1995
- Drove A.J. Foyt entry at Indianapolis 500, starting 30th and finishing 26th.
- Competed in four SCCA Trans-Am races with best finish of fifth.

- Started 17th and finished 16th in first Indianapolis 500 start.

- Teamed with actor Paul Newman in Newman-Sharp Oldsmobile Cutlass Supreme in SCCA competition.

- Finished eighth in SCCA Trans-Am points, driving Newman-Sharp Oldsmobile.

- Won third consecutive SCCA national title and second consecutive GT-1 championship at Runoffs.
- Won six races in SCCA Escort Endurance A Class championship, finishing second in points in Nissan 300ZX with co-driver Pepe Pombo.
- Competed in four SCCA Trans-Am events.

- Won SCCA GT-1 national title in first season of professional racing.

- Won SCCA national GT-2 driver’s championship in Nissan 280ZX Turbo for Newman-Sharp Racing headed by father, Bob Sharp, and actor Paul Newman.
